Application Process

Eligibility

  • For the Six Month Training Program, applicants must be women who are registered Democrats and who reside in the state of Arizona and must be prepared to commit to attend all of the classes from November 11, 2017 - April 7, 2018. 
  • For the Mujeres Surgen program, applicants must be Latina women who are registered Democrats and who reside in the state of Arizona and must be prepared to commit to the full day class on September 30, 2017 in Nogales, AZ.

Application Process for Mujeres Surgen

  • Applications are Mujeres Surgen Application (English) or Mujeres Surgen Application (Spanish)The application deadline is September 8, 2017.
  • Interviews of prospective candidates will take place mid September. Dates to be determined.
  • Between 20-25 women from across the state who meet the criteria will be selected for participation in the program.
  • Announcement of the Mujeres Surgen class will be made on September 18, 2017.

Application Process for Class of 2018

  • Applications are online hereThe application deadline is September 30, 2017.
  • Interviews of prospective candidates will take place mid October. Dates to be determined.
  • Between 20-25 women from across the state who meet the criteria will be selected for participation in the program.
  • Announcement of the Class of 2018 will be made on October 27, 2017.

Application Fees

  • There is a $50 non-refundable application fee due at the time of filing your applicaton. Pay this fee here.
  • If selected, there is a $500 tuition fee due prior to the first scheduled class.

Emerge Arizona believes that tuition should NOT be a barrier to participation in the program. Partial financial aid may be awarded after admission to the program.

Selection Criteria

Emerge Arizona seeks bright, self-motivated women who are committed to effective political leadership and are committed to run for elective office and who have:
  • evidence of political leadership experience or potential, and meaningful involvement in workplace or community
  • interest in running for political office
  • demonstrated ability to bring together disparate groups to achieve a goal
  • ability and desire to build effective networks
  • ability to articulate a personal political vision
  • demonstrated ability to inspire others
  • commitment to full participation and attendance requirements of the trainings
