Janice Blackmon

Class of 2010

I moved to Arizona 7 years ago from Chicago, Illinois with my two children who are now 18 (son) and daughter (30). I have recently became a proud grandmother of twin granddaughters who are 7 weeks old. I am currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix obtaining my BS Degree in Human Services Management and my expected graduation is July, 2010. I recently completed the Planned Parenthood's Local Progressive Candidate Leadership Program.
My previous employment was with the State of Arizona Department of Insurance, Consumer Affairs Division where I investigated and resolved life and health complaints that consumers were having with their insurance companies which involved issues such as being un-insurable due to preexisting conditions. Witnessing the many issues that consumers were having based upon bills, statutes and laws that republican lawmakers had passed as well as loosing my job because of the state budget crisis, is when I decided that I must not be a part of the problem but get involved to help be a part of a solution to create change and get more democrats elected in order to get the needs met of every class of people.
I'm an active  an volunteer at  the Democratic office and attend monthly LD meetings, I am a PC, and recently was elected as a state committee person and vice chair of my district. I am also on the Affirmative Action Committee and Resolutions Committee.
